Was the editor/reporter for all three Tooele County-area high schools. In that capacity, I attend multiple sporting events throughout the school year, across both boys and girls athletics.
Additionally, I established working relationships with coaches, athletic directors, etc. in order to effectively cover each school.
My beats included covering cops and courts, county/municipal government and general assignment.
Using skills in accessing public records, and the occasional open records request, I went beyond press releases and police reports to find compelling angles.
Over the course of my year at the Gazette, I established working relationships with the local police chief, local government officials and other leaders throughout the community.
Reported on topics of interest regarding local government and Tooele County transportation.
Covered sports events at Utah State University. Crafted opinion pieces on issues that resonated with college students.
Oversaw a college newspaper staff under the supervision of the department head. Worked from "soup to nuts" on the school's newspaper for Utah State University Eastern, ensuring that each edition was ready for the presses.
I also started a podcast that added in-depth news stories and deeper conversations regarding topics on campus.
Worked alongside the managing editor. Designed layouts, edited and produced articles for various sections of the paper.
Covered topics, on and off campus, that were of interest to students. Produced, on deadline, stories assigned by the editor.
Handles and maintains the flow of pharmaceutical materials and products in warehouses with varying degrees of automation according to established standards. Performs in accordance with established safety standards and adheres to all safety policies, rules, regulations and procedures.
